About Us

Hi, my name is Dr. Sheri Wilkins and I have worked in the field of public education as a paraprofessional, teacher, university professor and professional developer for over 35 years. I have had extensive experience in advising, coaching, training, and facilitating. I have expertise in Direct Instruction, positive behavior supports, curriculum and instruction, school culture, special education and systems change. I have worked with school systems across the U.S. and in Japan and Australia to bring together stakeholders in conversations designed to increase collaboration, positively impact teaching and learning, and build dynamic educational systems that are student-focused and results-driven.

I am the proud mom of four sons and grandmother of five (almost six!) grandchildren. In 2009, following the car accident and traumatic brain injury of one of my children, I focused my attention on researching specific strategies for developing executive function skills and sharing those strategies with parents and educators. This experience led me to write, with co-author with Carol Burmeister, FLIPP the Switch: Strengthen Executive Function Skills. I recently co-authored, with Carol Burmeister and Dr. Rebecca Silva the popular follow-up to FLIPP the Switch, entitled FLIPP the Switch 2.0: Mastering Executive Function Skills From School to Adult Life for Students with Autism. Both books are published by AAPC Publishing and are available at Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, and other popular book sellers.

My name is Carol Burmeister, and I learned early in my career what a difference an adult can make in the life of a student! My professional experience spans over 40 years working with students, families, and educational professionals. Serving as a paraprofessional, general education teacher, special education teacher, program specialist, and consultant in a wide variety of educational settings has provided me with the opportunity to work with students with unique learning needs including those with cognitive, behavioral, communication, and autism spectrum disorders.

I have trained across the United States and in Canada on topics related to understanding our students’ unique strengths and determining how to best meet their academic, behavioral, and social and emotional needs. Sharing many real-life examples, I am able to incorporate my practical experience, knowledge of evidence-based practices, and deep respect for the work of other educators. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had with to work side by side with amazing students, parents, and educational professionals. I strive to continue to make a difference in the lives of individuals, sharing my passion and enthusiasm for helping all students succeed!
