Hi, my name is Dr. Sheri Wilkins and I have been in the field of education for 30 years. I have worked extensively with school districts and sites to
collect, analyze, and use data to improve learning for all students. I have
also had the opportunity to team with districts to implement district-wide
systems change efforts such as RtI and School-wide Positive
Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). I have a great deal of experience
presenting and coaching teachers in literacy intervention, especially in the
area of reading comprehension. My doctoral dissertation focused on teaching strategies for the comprehension of informational text.
Currently I have been working with districts and school sites to implement
Common Core State Standards and to prepare educators for teaching in a unique
and powerful way in order to meet student needs and the requirements of the
CCSS. I have also been working in remote community schools in Australia, working with the National Institute for Direct Instruction (NIFDI
) implementing Direct Instruction programs and PBIS. I am knowledgeable in
the area of Autism Spectrum Disorders and have presented extensively on the
topic of Asperger’s Syndrome and High Functioning Autism.
I have received extensive training in facilitation skills and have
facilitated meetings for numerous groups, including Desert/Mountain SELPA, CTA, Riverside County
SELPA, San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, Victor Elementary
School District, Victor Union High School District, Hesperia Unified School
District, San Francisco Unified School District Board of Education, Waseca
School District, and Region 10. In March 2015, Carol Burmeister will have our first book published. Check out AAPC Publishing Company

My name is Carol Burmeister, and I learned
early in my career what a difference an adult can make in the life of a
student! My professional experience
spans over 40 years working with students, families, and educational
professionals. Serving as a paraprofessional,
general education teacher, special education teacher, program specialist, and
consultant in a wide variety of educational settings has provided me with the
opportunity to work with students with unique learning needs including those
with cognitive, behavioral, communication, and autism spectrum disorders. I have trained across the United States and
in Canada on topics related to understanding our students’ unique strengths and
determining how to best meet their academic, behavioral, and social and
emotional needs. Sharing many real-life
examples, I am able to incorporate my practical experience, knowledge of
evidence-based practices, and deep respect for the work of other educators. I
am grateful for the opportunities I have had with to work side by side with
amazing students, parents, and educational professionals. I strive to continue to make a difference in
the lives of individuals, sharing my passion and enthusiasm for helping all students succeed!
